Default 06 Super V8 Tachometer issues

Evening All. New member here, I have a 2006 Super V8 with 86k miles on the clock. Went for a drive today and noticed my tachometer is dead. I tried turning it off and started the car again and you can see the tack barely stuttering from rest to just below the 0 mark. I did check the battery and the earth/ground points by the headlights and all is good. I tried disconnecting the battery for 1 hr and after connecting the battery the tach came alive and showed idling rpm. Once I revved it a few times it moved just fine and then it dropped back down and stopped at its resting spot below the 0 mark. I noticed this time that I can hear a slight winding noise at the gauge when I rev, almost like a slight grinding when a plastic gear slips a tooth. Has anyone experienced this issue? I appreciate the time and help.

This problem is not unknown and is probably due to wear in the plastic cogs in the mechanism

at the rear.

Thanks for the info, do you know how to remove the wood panel on the 2006 super v8. I got most of it popped but it got stuck around the navigation screen leather trim.

Sorry I have never had to do it.
I suggest that you search using Google eg 'Jaguar x350 wood trim removal'

just done it for you!

Use google images too if need be.
