2 piece Motor mount!
Hey all.
Well I generally don't get on my 2004 xjr because quite honestly it just fries the one tire with traction control off or does a crazy dance with it on. Well its been getting cool in nyc and the car has been feeling a bit extra peppy. It also seems to have developed a slight roughness at idle.
WELL....I deceided to see just how good it felt with cool temps...WOOHOOO....much more responsive than ever before....HOWEVER I did notice what felt like a bad motor mount....Well today I had the tranny service done (New pan and fluid) and what do you know....two piece motor mount!....May explain my slight rough idle..Things completely torn in two
My question now is. What should I use for a replacement>? I know with other fluid filled mounts they have solid alternatives. And how difficult to remove? Couldn't find anything on it. Thanks all!

Why not just replace with OEM parts ?
You seem to like "dumping rubber", and with a 2004 car, I reckon those engine mounts have done pretty well to last 10 years with the stress they have been under. Solid mounts may or may not last longer, but will make the car far harsher. that's why these fluid-filled mounts are used, to allow high power engines, but without losing the "Jaguar" qualities.

Fraser,
I realize all of that. Why I was basically asking for opinions. I was just unsure if there were any other options. On one of my other cars I modified Id rip the factory mounts often that were fluid filled, I then went to solid rubber and would tear those apart as well. Finally I went with a custom designed mount with poly and all is well. This mount cant rip apart however.
And although the xjr may no ride as smooth as the XJ I don't want to feel the engine vibration. Ill likely get OEM but still curious

Hi Slowpoke
It's a problem because with aftermarket solid or non-OEM bushes you only know when you've spent the money ! Unless, of course, you know somebody with a car fitted with non-Jaguar mounts who can take you for a ride. It may be that Jaguar improved these mounts during the car's production life, so a later seemingly identical part may be improved internally and hence last longer. If these mounts tore up during the warranty period, Jaguar would pretty soon have investigated why, because warranty claims are expensive and eat into the profits.
I had a quick look around the internet, and found this dealer in the UK. These mounts are not cheap ! Nothing came up as after-market solid mounts although I have only spent a couple of minutes surfing.

I'd have to check the records but mine needed replacing around 120,000km's and it's not like I don't put the right foot into the XJR!!!
I'd recommend replacing with the correct parts from Jag
Cheers
