Default 2003 X350 OBD issues

Hi- I am new to Jaguars, but I hope to be enjoying the experience soon.

I recently acquired a 2003 X350 that belonged to an elderly relative and unfortunately sat unused for several years. It has 18,000 miles. This is a fantastic car and I can’t wait to be driving it, but right now I am bedeviled by three OBD monitor issues that keep it from passing Texas inspection:

Comprehensive Components, Catalyst Efficiency, Evaporative System

They register “Not Ready”, even after driving 300 miles, as recommended to reset the monitors.

I would appreciate any information that might help clear these monitors. In Texas, I need to clear at least two in order to pass.

Thanks. I look forward to meeting other Jaguar enthusiasts here.

Welcome to the forums, Vernon.
If your car is a US 2003, it is an X308, not an X350. X350 started with 2004 in US. Just for clarification when looking for answers here and for parts.
Do you have an OBD code reader? That's where to start. Pull the codes. There are many sources for the definitions of those codes.
Also, you can start here in the forums in the DIY section to find out more about taking care of your new car. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...enance-246865/
Folks will be better able to help you here if you have those codes as well.

EVAP needs not too little & not too much fuel but you sound likely to have been OK on that.

This PDF may be informative but sounds like your car is not in the year range.

I can't figure out just which PCM you'll have but look around as there are PDFs which go into detail on what monitor is affected by / affects which codes/faults/etc or needs which preconditions to set.

Welcome!

4.0 V8? If that's the case, you have one of the previous-gen (X308) cars. There's quite a number of discussions in the X308 forums on setting OBD readiness. The in-group search function works well.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ then click on "search this forum". Again, welcome!

Paul

Thanks. I did not realize my 03 was an X308. I have been looking in the wrong places.

It's kinda' confusing, really--in the US market, 2003 cars were carry-overs, and a fair number of 2004 US market cars were actually built in 2003... while in the UK market and others, 2003 cars were of the x350 generation. In any case, there's great support in all of the forums here. Who knows, you'll want one of the '04-09 cars next!

Best,
Paul
