Default 2004 XJ8 Questions

Hello All,
I just got my first Jaguar, its a 2004 XJ8 in Frost Blue with Champagne leather. I have to say that it is the best car that I have ever driven, and I am enjoying it so much!

I have a few questions about the car,

Im interested in putting bluetooth into the car, it doesnt have the factory phone, but I heard somewhere that the car is prewired for a phone? I searched around on the web and found this https://www.jaguarparts.com/catalog/...oducts_id=1133 and this https://www.jaguarparts.com/catalog/...oducts_id=1132 and im wondering how hard it is to install, or if im able to install it without having the factory phone.

Thankyou all in advance for your help,

Mat

I bought a Motorola portable Bluetooth that clips on the sunvisor that works great. I can also take it from car to car. My phone fits in the sunglasses holder on the overhead. More versatile and a lot cheaper. I do the same for GPS.

You need to get the suffix off the module they are selling. Needs to be AD suffix. If lower do not buy it. Otis easy to install if you are fairly handy. That I think is a fair price. You must consider however the system is not that great. For less money you can get motorola ihf1000 which is fully voice activated, integrates fully with car except for dialpad on radio. Mutes radio when call comes in or u make call. Pairs with every phone, the jag system is very touchy and will not pair with every phone.

FactoryJaguarTech,

What exactly is wrong with the Jaguar system? The reason I ask is because I would like the most integrated system that I could get for the car.

Thanks for your responses

Mat

On the site listed whats the differnce between the 2 modules besides the cost $418 and $162 or do you need both. Around How much if purchased and installed by the dealer? also is it a matter of plugging in the modules and or do you need to diassemble the dash to do this install or is it done in the trunk. Im handy but would like to know where the install work takes place before I decide which way to go.

To install, you remove the center console for the smaller module and the left side trunk carpet for the bigger pse module.
The phone button will work with the factory one, but it will need programmed by dealer as it is all tied into the audio system.
The problem is, Jaguar assumes no responsability in keeping up with changing cell phone technology. This means there are very few phones that work with the system.
The motorola unit I put in works great. I will try and take some pictures this weekend so you can see it. Mine is not a 2004 but the principal is the same.

Thankyou FactoryJaguarTech

I went and checked on the jaguar website to see the list of approved phones, and mine is on the list. Does that mean that mine will work with this module, or is this module an older one? Also, do I need to have microphones installed, or are they already in my car?

And finally how do I install this? Like how does the armrest come apart, and do I have to do any wiring?

This is the approved list:

Thankyou so much for your help,

Mat
