Default 2004 XJ8 right turn signal not working, fuse blows

My right front an turn signal is not working, as soon as I put in a fuse is blows. Keys are not even in the ignition. The fuse is 25. I found this great diagram below of fuse locations.

jaghelp.com: 2005 XJ Fuse location and id

Timeline
1. Got the car last Monday 2/1
1 .My passenger sun visor was sagging, screw came out. (this is how I got the car). Reattached it. then I believe the next day fuse 25 blew. I was on my way to have the headliner replaced. Tuesday 2/2
2. Replaced fuse 25, right front /side signal worked for about 1 day, then fuse 25 blew again. 2/3
3. Now fuse 25 blows as soon as I put in a fuse, car is off no keys in ignition. 2/5 until present

Is this problem related to my sunvisor or just coincidence.

Welcome to the forum chaby88,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X350 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Hi checked wiring diagram this looks like this fuse controls 1side marker left/right (nas only) 2 right hand turn signal 3 vanity mirror 4 centre console map light and lamp 5 garage opener . so looking at this I would start where you put the screw in have a look at the wiring

found the issue, dropped the headliner, the wire was burnt/bare for about 10 inches. cut out the exposed wire and capped. disconnected the 2 sun visor lamps permanently. Right front turn signal now working, no other lights interior/exterior effected. Very poor design by jaguar to have the visor light and turn signal on the same circuit.

Cool 2004 XJ8 right turn signal/indicator blowing fuse

Hi All, just joined the forum, I have a very low mileage 2004 XJ8, 43k original miles, took it out for date night the other night and the dash indicated right turn signal indicator failure. So I thought okay bulb out, worked thru some web info to check only to find both bulbs were okay, I then went to the cabin fuse box to find the fuse blown. Then I thought easy/peasy, just replace the fuse. as soon as I inserted the fuse, it blew, so I tried once more with no luck.
I saw the thread on the courtesy dome lights and he had inserted a screw, but I have not made any changes but yes these lights are out too. I am looking to find a wiring diagram to see how all of this is wired together, as interesting the rear turn signal works fine.

Looking for any help here to find the root cause and not have to take it to the shop

Thanks Steve Spencer

Well, I thought I would update everyone on my right front/side turn signal blowing the fuse, ended up being the wiring into the drivers sun visor, thus the goofy jaguar wiring scheme. why would someone tie this stuff into the turn signal, one only knows.

I am glad that I ran into this post. I was changing out a leaking coolant reservoir and the right front turn signal and right front marker stopped working right after I washed coolant residue near front right headlight. I assumed the wash water short circuited some wire and I could not figured out for months where was the short. After read this post, I removed the wind shield's right pillar cover and disconnected the harness that feeds to the map light and dome light. Voila, right turn signal again. This is truly England's engineer by having dome light and turn signal share the same electrical signal. I now don't have map light and dome light but I can leave with that.

Another genius design that I encountered. My AC blower stopped working even there was cold air. Obvious diagnose pointed to a temperate module that located at the blower housing, which I changed once before. I changed to a new module and blower was still not working. It tuned out to be a blow fuse for the driver power seat. I now feel bad from blaming EBAY seller from selling me deflective module.

Brings in work to the service department, & sells new cars.

Its an old British thing, i learned on my 1973 750 Triumph motorcycle.

Keep them coming back for maintenance, or else you'll have problems

They had issues with the heads breaking, under the rocker boxes unless rockers came off, to retighten them.

The Japanese solved the issue, & that killed the British motorcycle industry

Default EZ Fix

I had the same issue.
Right front repeater and vanity mirrors went out.
It was a 10 Amp fuse location25 inside Cabin Fuse Box.
Hint: Use a long Needle Nose Pliers, as an automotive fuse puller that comes in a fuse kit is useless.

Hi Mr. Black,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

Was your problem with the same wiring harness or was something else causing the fuse to blow?
