my 2004 XJ8 has a whine when the AC is on,hear it more when i give it the gas,when i shut the AC off its gone,i have heard if your freon is low that could cause it,it does blow cold air but not real cold,any thoughts apreciated

My Xj8 also whines. If I disable the compressor, no sound is audible. After re-enabling the compressor, it takes a few minutes for whining to come back.
Cooling performance is still excelent.
So I'm keen to read a solution to this issue.

 

How many kilometres/miles are on the vehicle?

Have a Jaguar specialist or air conditioning shop check the refrigerant level and inspect the serpentine belt for slippage.

 

Mine also does this and I had the ac regasses a few months back but it made no difference. My ac has also now stopped working I am suspecting the compressor but not had a chance to check yet.
