Default 2004 XJ8 (X350) drop down sunglass holder cover

Gentle listers, the other day the wood over metal cover dropped off the overhead sunglass cover. My wife was driving the car at the time so I didn't know about it. By dint of some strange magic it wound up wedged under the driver's seat and was hard to find and even harder to extract.

It seems to have been simply "glued" on with a cover-sized piece of original Jaguar Black stickum (engineering term). My question is what is the best way to re-stick it so it will not come off again in the Texas heat? Contact cement? Liquid Nails? epoxy?

TIA, Brian

I would recommend JB Weld...…………………..An American product!

Well, there's been no response except for the JB weld suggestion. I'll look into that. If, on balance, the JB Weld doesn't seem as good I'll go ahead with the epoxy.

I'll clean off both surfaces as best I can and mix up the epoxy tomorrow.

I'll let you know and if I remember, I'll tell you what the long term results are.

Well, JB weld is a very viscous miscible product (the one I have) and, perhaps not suitable for this project. I haven't done anything yet - still exploring options.

I wouldn't use JB weld. Depending on the fit I'd look at 3m VHB foam tape.

Jb weld could be described as a filled epoxy.

There are different ones and the only one I used was steel filled
but it's basically an epoxy.
I have used also to repair the soles on my wife's sandals!
