Does anyone know if satellite radio came as a true factory installed option in 2005-2007 like in the 2008 and 2009 or did it only come as a dealer installed accessory in the ash tray? For some reason, I am unable to find this answer and I have searched and searched.

 

Did more digging and it looks like accessory only for 2005-2007 in ashtray. It was not clear from brochures and option lists.

 

Yes it looks like an aftermarket install, though. It tunes to an FM radio frequency.

 

The shortcomings of the audio system is one of the most troubling things about the XJ8. Since I only have the base model, no screen or premium audio, I'm working on a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX installation. Most of the required items have been secured, and I have contacted Metra about providing a piano black double-din installation kit for the XJ8, much like their kit for the S and X models. They have sent the request to the owner and development, and I'm waiting to hear back now.

I am sure, if Metra heard from more people petitioning them for a faceplate kit, that would more than likely show interest in their making one. You can email sales through Metra's website. Drop them a note asking for it!

 

I have a used dealer kit if you want it.

 

This is an accessory that Jaguar supplied. I scored a dealer kit, never installed new in box about a year ago for my 04 XJ8

 

Box, would be great to hear if Metra can supply the kit.
