Default 2006 XJ8L center air vent silver sliders both just went.

2006 XJ8L center air vent sliders both broke recently.
Have been looking for info about replacing just the silver sliders but have only found info regarding replacing the entire vent assembly.
Any info or ideas?
Thanks

Hey Jrraab, had my xjr for three years until i realized that my chrome sliders were not suppose to be there. I just thought it looked nice all black. Any way once i realized they were missing i got a a complete new replacement from a Jaguar wreaking yard for like $50.00 at the same time my clock went bad and they wanted $200 to $500 dollars to repair the clock. The wrecking yard sent me the replacement air vent and new clock for $65.00. Easy to replace plus i could not see a easy way to replace the chrome pieces if i had them.I would have had to dismantle the whole mechanism.

Thanks for the helpful reply.
I was hoping that I could install the
sliders without dismantling the dash.
Looks like replacing the vent assembly
would be the only option.
Thanks again.

Just gently pry off the wood on aluminum veneer to expose the screws you'll need access to. Should only take a few minutes.

Does anyone know definitively that the silver vane clips can be bought separately and inserted directly into to the vent?
Trying to go as simple as possible.
Thanks
JR

Default Thought

Same problem, I am tempted to remove the ones on my rear vents. They are only lightly glued together front to back. Maybe some angled pliers holding the back and gently tug the chrome front slider off. Then reverse procedure with a little glue and a lot of finesse. Have not done it yet but tempted......
