4.2L Engine Oil Filter Boss?
So, I traded my beloved '97 X300 w/ 224,000 miles for an X350.
Here's my dilemma: I recently changed the oil and filter for the first time on this car, only to have a male threaded adapter protruding from the old filter. Hmm, what to do.
Well, having no extra set of wheels, I replaced the filter to get my wheels going again. But before I did, I noted that the adapter had a 6mm internal hex, which is about as popular in the US as Marmite (no offense)...
Two questions:
1) Does anyone know the OEM part number for this adapter?
2) Should I use Loctite Blue thread locker (not permanent) to install the new adapter into the engine?
Any help is much appreciated.

Wow! Just as well you didn't say "Vegemite", you would offend 22 million people in Oz.
Seriously I have not heard of this adaptor coming out with the filter before.
They must have 6mm Allen keys in the US?
If the thread on the adaptor is tapered it will tighten up and you don't need the "glue" but if it is not tapered then you could use to use a thread lock.

Mine came off with the filter also the first time I changed it. Simply unscrewed it from the filter and added locktite and reinstalled it on the car. Seems some of the filters bottom out before the gasket tightens...

No, plums, the thread going into the engine was much finer. Perhaps it might have been smarter to have used a left-hand thread into the engine, since installation torque is hand tight vs. filter removal torque?
Does anyone know the P/N?

Originally the part number was AJ83472........ it is now AJ810712.
The best way to secure it back to the engine is to make a tool with a bolt and two nuts, and use some mid to high strength Loc-Tite. Find a bolt with the hex head the same size as the hex inside the oil filter adapter, screw two nuts on the bolt and tighten them together like jam-nuts. Doesn't matter what the hex size is on the nuts. Use the head of the bolt as the tool, and put a wrench on the nuts to tighten it to the engine.
Just thinking outside the box........
Edit: I thought I still had some of these "tools" laying around. The big one on the left I use for the supercharger coolant plug, the one on the right is for the oil filter adapter; it's a 9/16" head.

Would you happen to know the thread spec for the the portion that screws into the block?

Cheers,
The inside of the filter adaptor is a 15 mm hex ( same as the fitting on top of the supercharger coolant plug), I had the same problem and ordered the tool, since this is an unusually large hex. I just removed the adaptor from the filter and torqued it down with the hex wrench. Have had no more problems in 6 years. One of the problems with mine was that Purolator had a bad filter number in their chart that hit bottom before it was tight. I noticed on oil changes that this filter had always leaked and looked into it further. This caused a lot of these problems. I notified Purolator of the issue and I looked the other day and Purolator has removed this filter from the Jaguar chart but if you have some, dump em.
