Default Accelerator Pedal position sensor

2003 xj8-- I was told that there is no TPS as such on my car but was told by a very reputable shop that what I needed was the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor...
Apparently they have been discontinued by Jaguar, the shop said that they could not find a part # on it???

Any help would be appreciated

Just to make sure, you have a 2003 XJ/X308.... not X350 ( aluminium body ) XJ?

If so - this is in the wrong forum, one of the moderators will move it to the right one.

However in the mean time, your vehicle very much so has a TPS which is on the Throttle Body....

What is the fault you are experiencing?

I have 2003 XJ Sport.... I'm pretty sure it is not an aluminum body...
The fault was ABS light and The Transmission fault message came across the display, also Accelerator fault message.
I was told I would have to replace the entire throttle body but am not sure I do. I did have the transmission completely rebuilt and
there is a warranty on that but the two codes it is throwing is Accelrator Pedal Position Sensor (apparently NOT called TPS per the shop)
and also the ABS Controller code..
The car will start and go into reverse just fine but when I try to drive it will go about 1/2 mile then go into limp mode.
Any chance I should start with a new battery?? I have read that all sorts of codes can result from a weak battery.

I appreciate any input you can provide.

I'm assuming its the car in your profile picture, so that is a X308 chassis.

The Pedal Position and Throttle Position sensors are located on the throttle body.
There have been bulletins in the past with the pins on the connector, were tin plated and supposed to be replaced with gold plated pins.

I would definitely check the battery.
What is the code its giving in relation to the Accelerator fault?
ABS - what code do you have for this, C1095?

Default pedal position sensor

Hi I would like to know how this turned out. I have a faulty pedal posiiton sensor that was causing all the issues you described -- limp home, gearbox fault, no /ASC.

I came to believe the only solution was to bight the bullet and buy a new throttle body. Prices ranged from about 2400 to 3000 USD.

Have not put it in yet.

What did you do?

Thanks

Default Still having this issue. ..

As I was having multiple issues the shop suggested taking care of the ABS unit and see what happened so I sent mine off to Module Masters in Idaho and they rebuilt it with a 5 year warranty for $100....
still have not found a throttle body as they stopped making it. ... and there is no part number on mine.
SO... still stuck at shop unfortunately!
