air con one side not working
Hi all
2004 JAGUAR XJ6 V6 SE AUTO 3.0 Petrol
I recall a post a while ago on aircon not working properly on one side.
In simple terms : drivers side when its hot outside, no 'cold' air comes through(passenger side works with cold air coming through), when its cold outside no hot air was coming through (passenger side functions normally).
Lookers have been pretty hopeless, topped up refrigerant, still doesnt fucntion properly. I do get volume of air coming out just not the correct temperature.
So in the summer the car is stuffy and hot and in the winter its like an iceberg om wheels !
Any pointers would be appreciated. No fault codes showing.
Thanks
Jason

Sounds like heater core replacement is in need. Flushing usually doesn't help if it was never done in the past. When not regularly flushed coolant sits in the core pipe and sludge builds up until it finally blocks the pipe. By the time this happens a flush is rather useless. One side of the core pipe feeds the driver side and the other the passenger side. Unless there is always someone in the passenger seat you may not notice the temp difference occurring until it affects you.
It sounds like a common fault where the heater matrix is partially blocked.
Replacement should resolve heat problem but you may then have a problem with
cold air because of a heater flap inside the climate 'box'.

Thanks, I'm ok with normal maintenance etc but I presume this is a pretty specialised job, would an AC specialist be better as main dealer were hopeless? Anyone have any recommendations for London UK or Essex UK, in fact anywhere in the South UK or East?
Many thanks
