do I have to turn off the air ride suspension before jacking the XJ8 up to change the outter tie rod ends?

I did not do that to any i have replaced. The car will set lower in front, at least mine did, till the driver door was opened, as left side will drop when right side is raised, as well as other way around. When i opened the door to get in, the car hissed, then raised the front end, causing the compressor to engage & refill the storage tank, for next time that air is required.You will need to reset your toe in settings, then look out back, any Jaguar i changed front tie rod ends, rears replacements were needed, as well as the drop links.This too will change your alignment settings. A four wheel alignment will be needed to be done, by you or about $80+ tax at a tire shop, or garage that does them, when you are all finished.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. I completed the job and there is no more noise when turning the wheel. Thanks again.

For future reference, pull fuse F52 before lifting, put it back once the car is back on the ground.
