Default air shocks

Are there any standard shocks or struts from another model that will replace the air shocks on the 2004 xj8? Or do I HAVE to buy the 1500$ conversion ?

Hi flogger157,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

The simple answer to your question is that we are not aware of any standard shocks or struts that are a direct replacement for the original air spring and damper units on your '04 XJ8. However, that doesn't mean your only option is a $1500 conversion kit.

If you will share with us a thorough description of the symptoms that are prompting you to consider a conversion, we'll be happy to try to help.

In the meantime, try using the Advanced Search function under the Tools tab at the top of this page to search the forum for the volumes of information and discussion that have already been posted on this subject.

Also, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don

I saw a post where a set of S type shocks and springs were fitted. It even said the electronic dampening model could use eCats.
There is a company here in Houston selling a conversion with modules to prevent error codes. Have not seen feedback on this.
I tricked the electronic dampening on a Suburban with a resistor. That was a two wire circuit.

Technically, there are no 'air shocks' on the X350 suspension. They are hydraulic dampers (shocks) with air springs.

You can convert it to steel coil springs/hydraulic dampers.
You can also get a good-used damper/air spring assy if only one is faulty.

Good-used will be the most cost effective.

What exactly is wrong with your suspension??

Not sure why you are interested in replacing the OEM shocks. I have replaced my front Shocks/air springs with Arnott designed replacements for my 2004 XJR. One of my shocks was noisy so I chose to replace the original equipment models. Very happy with the replacements
