Reletive to the JTIS, I notice that it contains no part numbers. Where does one go to look up part numbers anyway?

Reletive to the characteristic ride/handeling of my 05 XJR over an XJ8, is that a function of computer programing or different suspension components? For instance, I can surmise that the anti roll bars are different but what about the air shocks? Are they different part numbers on an XJR as opposed to an XJ8?

These are important questions, especially if you are trying to buy parts off the internet or EBay. You spend more time trying to decide if buyer and seller are talking about the same item than the condition of the item.

I have the 2005 EPC (Electronic Parts Catalogue) and its an absolute nightmare to use. First off you have to put your PC date back to 11/2004 so it can cause big problems with windows or any other programs running in the background. The part numbers listed on it may not be correct as part numbers can change (superceed) regularly. In order to get current part numbers you need to be a dealer with a pasword connected to Jaguar parts system which none of us are.
I tried buying later updates to my EPC from ebay but they turned out not to be updates at all and the ebayers were banned from ebay after complaining presumably for misadvertising.
Im not saying the EPC listed above wont work but you may be taking on problems if they are anything like the ones I had (which wouldnt run on Vista either).

^^^AAAGGHHH

Good thing I'm not buying it for the parts references! I'll see if it works any better on my XP machine.

Surely there's a way to 'pdf' all of the catalogue information...maybe, even if you have to set the clock back once to do it. I'll play with that option too. Update ya later...my cd hasn't arrived.

Putting to pdf would be nigh on impossible I think
There are 1000s of parts for each car and even more when working out the part number from the VIN
VIN ID is a feature on the EPC so you can scroll to the correct part for a particular car and what it had from factory including trim codes, options, features etc

So let me get this straight--- as a practical matter, there really is no currently available parts catalog for 04 and up cars unless you are a Jag dealer.

Does anybody happen to know if XJR air shocks are a different part no. from XJ8 air shocks in general?

I believe they can be different, there is a high volume version for a softer ride and a low volume version for firmer ride. So and XJ8 Sport would have the same shocks as a XJR but an XJ8 SE would have different shocks, best to check the part numbers mind to be sure.
