Default "Air Suspension Fault"

Just had this show up in the display of my '05 XJ-8L (with only 32,500). Any hints at what I might be looking at here? I'm still under warrenty so I'm hoping whatever it is is covered.

Another gripe: The local Jaguar dealer doesn't have a service opening until next Tuesday. Six days seems to be a long time to wait for service from a premium dealer.

Hi, have a look at this thread that I posted several weeks ago, it may help you, on my car the main issue was the compressor which is mounted behind the fron t bumper somewhere, good luck,

I had the same prob, with less miles on the clock, than you did. the fault will come on with increasing tendency. Most of the time, it will be the suspension, compressor.

Follow up: the light went off before I got the car in for the appointment (almost immediately actually) and hasn't come back on so I'm assuming that it was a temporary glitch.

dont think that. the fault should be stored so take it in for service anyways.

this way everything is nice and documented in case it goes bad later on.

I had my light going on and off over a 12 month period, it began every few weeks, then gradually increased its regularity right up to every other day or so in the end, thats when I finally bit the bullet and decided I had to get it sorted !

There is more than one possible fault, the most common is failure of the compressor to pump the system to pressure in a set time due to wear. There are also failures of the air springs, the module and so on. If the compressor is the fault, only a replacement will solve the problem. The problem is usually accented in cold weather.

I own 05 XJR Vin#G37660 with Nav, DVD and the Warm weather Package with 43,000 miles on the clock. I Finally got my first Code B2303 (Suspension fault). While having a Oil and filter change my Tech perform a Free 27 point courtesy inspection and found the suspension fault code. What amaze me was the fact he notifed the Dealership and informed them of the code and I was told to bring vehicle in first thing in the morning and they would replace the compressor under Warranty (CPO). Engine Oil GTX 5/30 8Qts, Oil Filter 4.2 Litre C2N-3587 and Oil Drain Plug 4.2 JZH100062 Total $117.00 USD. English Auto Odenton Maryland two thumbs Up! (The shop is so clean you can Eat off the floor). Once again Thanks! My other vehicle's 2001 S-Type 143,000 miles on the clock from Window Regs to Transmission been there done that and a GMC Envoy 121,000 miles on the clock with no issues just routine maintance.

I have a 2005 XJ8L with about 65k miles. I just started getting the air suspension fault warnings. They would usually go away the next day, but repeat whenever I drove over a rough road.
A good DIY can fix this. You almost certainly need to buy a WABCO replacement air compressor. I got one from PartsGeek

If you on a real tight budget, the UK Ebay has a repair kit for just under 30 pounds, and they will mail to the US. Worth a try.

This is a common problem. I don't understand why there is not a Jaguar recall for this. The dealer will charge a lot for this simple fix.

Hi Photty

The kit is supplied by our very own forum member 'bagpipingandy' ! Try a search on that name or PM him. The Jaguar OEM compressor was supplied by Wabco, and is a known short-life component, mainly due to the piston seal wearing out. However, other things can eventually wear, like motor brushes.

The price you paid is not bad for a new pump, I would think, as I haven't seen them less than about £270 (= $440)
