Hi Belleek,

The first thing I would suspect is a weak battery due either to age (if it's the original battery) or the fact that you have not driven the car very much this year. A weak battery is a common cause of all sorts of odd issues on Jaguars, so I would recommend that you have the battery tested under load, especially while cranking the engine. If the voltage falls much below 12V while cranking, the battery may be your problem.

The next thing I would suspect is looseness or corrosion on the connector for the passenger seat weight pressure sensor. The sensor is mounted in the seat cushion, and its electrical connector is black with 3 wires attached and is probably located on the underside of the seat cushion. It's easy to remove the six Torx screws that attach the seat to the floor and tilt the entire seat back to disconnect, inspect and clean all the electrical connectors with zero-residue electrical contact cleaner spray (put an old towel on the carpet to protect from overspray).

Cheers,

Don

If the battery was low on charge, I would just whip the car around to a mechanic or similar and get them to check the battery. I found that although after a trickle charge the battery seemed ok, it was the Crank Amperage that was causing me problems. I had to go buy a new battery to resolve the issue.
