Every once in a while my center console display screen goes blank (and I dont mean the dimming of the contrast like when the auto headlights go on) for about 5 seconds then comes back. Every function works but I am worried about this. Is this a common problem? What causes this? I have been suspecting my RCCM may have a problem because of odd climate control issues. Is the display controled my the RCCM?

 

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

I had the problem of the satnav map display switching back and forth between Day and Night setting. At night, the headlights would also flicker. It was finally tracked to the lights/indicator switch on the steering binnacle.

 

I suspect you are seeing the back light turn off on the display. This will also trigger the colors to go into night (black) mode

You need to confirm if it the wiring to the ICE or the Auto headlamps issue

Tru running with auto headlamps off and see if the problem goes away
If it does it's most likely the stalk or the sensor
If not it most likely a connection issue to the ICE

usually if the cluster goes out and makes a audible sound it will indicate a cluster failure...this will be accompanied by the headlight going off and on....if no audible sound and headlights go out it can be ambient light sensor or the headlight stalk....
