My '04 XJR has the hardwired handset option that clips into the center bin lid. I'd like to, at some point, fit a Bluetooth system.


Other things to know? I have:

• DVD entertainment system
• Alpine stereo with package shelf subs
• DVD navigation

I know that BT was an option in '04, but really don't know where to start or what path might make the most sense.


Recommendations? Thoughts?

 

To check if you have the phone module already fitted, press the "phone" button, it it says "phone not fitted" you are out of luck and the upgrade is major $$$$$. Better get an aftermarket gizmo.

If the phone is fitted it's a relatively easy upgrade you'll need to get the bluetooth antenna, which is installed in the center console and plugs in the cable where your hardware phone is. It was about $150-$200 if I remember correctly.

The only caveat is that your phone module needs to be revision AD or older (AC might work, but I'm not sure). If it's older it needs to be replaced and the price on that is not reasonable.

 

Hmm, I stand corrected the old BTUM (aka bluetooth antenna) module is not available anymore, they now sell the "bluetooth interface" module for only $930 - ouch.

 

I got mine on ebay, $129 for the BT module, $50 for the mic, and $350 for the PSE. If you have the hardwired phone you only need the BTUM and the PSE. I'd keep an eye on eBay.
