XJ 8 2004, I have a continuous fault message that my bonnet is open. I have tried oiling the latches/springs, changed the air shocks on the bonnet and still get the message. This message does not allow me to lock the vehicle with the remote control, I have to physically lock the doors with the key. Any suggestions?

Are you being too gentle with it? It has to be slammed pretty frimly to get my light to stay out...

 

that's what I had to do at first, but it just stays on not matter how much I slam

 

There is a switch under one of the latches-not sure which side on a US car.

Oil from the latch runs down onto the switch-not good!

Finally got that switch, its connected to the bottom of the left latch. I got from dealer for $28
