A/C stops in reverse gear

A/C stops in reverse gear
Hi,
I am still learning my 2004 XJ VPD and noticed twice that the a/c stops blowing in reverse gear. This happened first when the car was home and I was leaving. The car is kept in the garage. The second time I was leaving the office and it was 96 degrees outside. (I'm just north of Orlando, FL) The air is in auto and starts blowing when the engine is started. When I put the car in reverse, the air stops. And when I put the car in drive the air starts blowing again. Is this a feature with the reverse parking sensor or do I have a problem somewhere? This doesn't always happen so any input would be appreciated. The summer in Florida is too hot to not have the a/c blowing the second I'm in the car. And the black interior doesn't help either.

Thanks guys. I skipped the wacky weed this morning and started the car again. I waiting until the air was blowing and put the car in reverse. The air stopped again. Soon as I put the car in drive, air came on again. I'd guess Fraser might be right because the air would stay off if there was a fuse or something wrong. I'll just tell everyone my air stops so I can hear the reverse sensors.

Going to Orlando to test 04' VDP
I usually go to Orlando in winter to escape the cold. 100 degree's in Milwaukee this summer, I'm going to have go in the summer for cooler temperatures. I drove mine yesterday in Chicago but didn't notice that. I'll verify it today. Love the 04" VDP. May add a set of fancy floor mats and mesh for the grill.

The technical guide implies that the load management system will only control or inhibit the following items and in this order of priority:
Heated wiper rest
Heated rear screen
Heated front screen
Heated steering wheel
Heated rear seat behind the driver
Heated rear seat behind the passenger
Heated front passenger seat
Heated drivers seat
It will also raise the revs if required.

Thanks everyone. I disconnected the battery for an hour and reconnected. I waited another 30 minutes just to give the car time to think. I started it and put in reverse and the air is blowing!!!! I know the battery was replaced before I purchased the car last month so I'm going to take it to the dealer to have them do a re-flash. They said they would do that at no charge and check the battery for me. This forum rocks!!!!

My next fix option was the car wash

Great to hear A/C works in reverse now. Take the car to Shiner's Car Wash on Orange Blossom Trail! Give it a treat.
Still no engine light since January for me.

Hi,
Ok, so I think I know where my problem is. I was playing with the headlight switch because from my first post the auto lights are always on. I turned the DRL off and had left the switch in the off setting. I changed it back to auto and when I put the car in reverse, the a/c stops blowing. If I turn the switch back to off, the air blows in reverse. So now I think I need a new headlight switch. I hope this corrects both issues, time for a visit to the dealer.

Luckily I have an extended warrenty that covers it. Taking to the dealer on Monday, will update when I get the car back what Jag says was the issue with the air and the auto lights. Again, air blows in reverse if the light switch is set to off. If set to auto, that's when the air stops blowing. I'm guessing it's the light switch, but I'm new to this XJ and from my '04 S-type 4.2 that I sold, nothing surprises me.
