I purchased a 2008 XJ8. It's wired for a CD changer but it is not installed. The dealer is "kind" enough to order me one for thousands of dollars! The dealer also says being a smart guy I should be able to find one made by Alpine or for Alpine that should cost 200 or so. Does anyone know what my options are?

Have a look on ebay, here's one I found in about 30 seconds of searching through "car parts" and clicking the option "Jaguar" brand and then type in "cd player", I know this was here in the Uk but there must be similar available over there .
Another option is to go to a car steroe shop and ask them to supply a compatible Alpine unit. Best of luck
