Has anyone had this issue?

"Check Rear Lights" error message displays when right turn signal is on & the brake pedal is pushed.

This is happening with my jag, intermittently but regularly.

My 2001 XJR has been doing this. Swapped out the break pedal position switch, but still the same. Wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this weird issue?

 

This sounds similar to a problem that used to occur back about 25 years when I had an earth problem in the rear light unit of a car I had. You sometimes follow a car and when he has his indicator flashing and then brakes at the same time you notice the brake light appears to slightly flash as well, I would certainly check the earth connection behind the rear light cluster, you may be able to fit a secondary earth link to supplement the original if you cannot get to it.

 

Many thanks, beginning to think it was an earth issues somewhere. Will check the earth and maybe fit a secondary as detailed here.

 

Just to update, secondary ground attached, issue fixed, 10 minute job!
