Regarding your tyre question, can I suggest you do an internet search for "white wall tyre"

 

i was thinking of doing the same thing... did you ever do it? let me post pictures if you did...

 

When you want the best in White walls and White & Gold Walls its Vogue Tyres. They invented the process to vulcanize the the white with gold wall into the black tire in th eary 1900's. Their Diammond pattern White Wall with the thin Gold Wall is classic Vogue.

On an older 70's to 80's Jag could be sweet.

 

Actually, rubber is naturally an off white color. Basically about the color of a condom. The first cars with pneumatic rubber tires actually had these off white tires, but they showed dirt and were generally unattractive, so tire makers quickly added black dye to the mix to make black tires.

Just an interesting little tidbit I picked up watching Wayne Carini on Chasing classic cars.
