Unfortunately, the iPhone 5s may not be compatible. Jaguar's compatibility list for iPhones only goes to iPhone 4s. I have an iPhone 4 and it connected just fine.

However, if you want the music capability, you will need to install Jaguar's Audio Compatibility Module. It will run about $700 or so, but even the Jaguar service tech I normally deal with doesn't think much of it. You may want to check with some audio shops to see what they can do.

It may not be your phone... You car may be the source of the issue.. Depending on the vehicle type, your vehicle may only be compatible with CERTAIN phones...

Or there may be another iOS update that makes it work, if Apple make more.

First are you sure you have bluetooth installed in the car? The 2004 cars did not have the phone option standard and even if the phone option was installed it was for a wired Motorola phone.

Then even if you somehow manage to pair the phone with the car it only supports phone calls, no music streaming.

<shameless self promotion>
I have a project here that would address the music streaming part, it would be available mid summer.

Food for thought. I have been meaning to do this in the Bimmer for quite some time now...

Totally different species.... But this would be mighty cool. Nexus 7 Installed in E46! - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

As per my researches the bluetooth came only from 2005 models
To convert to bluetooth , you need to upgrade the voice control module located in the boot with higher version and replace the handset in the driver armrest by a bluetooth antenna .
Voice module are quite easy to find on ebay, the main issue is bluetooth antenna.
If someone knows where to find not for 600usd .... I'm interested
