Default Considering this XJR - advice needed.

Hi all,

I am looking at this 2004 XJR and have read the thread on common problems. The lower sitting front end seen in the pictures is a concern. After asking the dealer about this he replied that the suspension is OK and that an Arden lowering module had been installed.

Sounds fishy to me... any comments? Are there any Arden body kits visible from the photo´s?

With only 67k kms on the clock, should I expect a heap of failures coming soon?

Thanks for any help.

Mark.

Car looks good in the pics although am not keen on the low look at the front.

In studying multiple Carfax reports on Jaguar Xjrs 2004-2005 years I noticed several things in common :

1.Rotors and pads replaced around this mileage front and rear.
2.Fuel system flushing.
3.ECU reprogramming sometime several times.

I get worried when I see 2. happening several times over a period and the same with 3.

Not so worried about 1. so long as its once by this mileage.

Translation: Very nice well-kept Jaguar XJR in white with beautiful, dynamic Arden Bodykit 66700 Km., the jag is maintained, service check book just new, import car from Japan, never seen Winter or salt, TÜV HU new, further questions required

It is very low mileage for the year. The body kit looks good but why is is sitting so low?

Thanks Jackra,

I too am suspicious about the front end sitting low. As stated the seller says its is because of an Arden lowering module (??). I have been on the Arden website and they do have an AM suspension regulation module, but still... it seems unusually low at the front.

If it is true about the Arden suspension module and if it can be removed with the suspension returning to normal it may be a good buy.

There is a "travel/shipping mode" with the Jaguar suspension which lowers the car however it would be bad to drive like that I would think because of undue stress on the shocks? Not to mention the driver.

Maybe the Arden module overrides the travel mode restriction on driving?

It is possible to lower these cars by using the height calibration software, and enter false values to fool the system. Personally, I don't think it is a good idea.

Isn't Japan a left hand driving country (steering wheel on the right)?
Why lowering a car only at the front end?
5500km per year, equals short distances to me. Or it has been turned back. In Germany they know their way around shrinking mileage..
These are a couple of questions that would make this car a doubtful one to me.

Arden did have a lowering module at one time if they no longer offer it. That wouldn't be a deterrent for me.
