I bought a replacement coolant tank from Welsh Enterprises on eBay (user: jagsjagsjags), however I'm not sure if it's defective...there was a plastic piece rattling inside that fell out and there's a visible hole inside the inner compartment at the bottom that looks very crude, I don't know if it's supposed to be there...

Any suggestions?

it looks like just an extra piece of plastic from the moulding process. If it holds coolant and isn't weak at any of the seams I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

 

Any way to test it without putting it in the car? TBH, the main thing I'm worried about is that hole in the inner container, it looks so crude that I'm not sure it's supposed to be there.

 

I have spare tank (new).

Pic attached-there are two ''holes'' to the right and left at the bottom of the tubular section.

I would ask for another one.
