Question Cost of new winshield?

How much are you paying for a windshield replacement for your X350/X358?
Safelite that I use for my Nissan Pathfinder does manufactured their own windshield replacement for the XJ8 but they still charge 580$ all tax included - the Nissan is 270 -Wow what a difference. Safelite is also offering Jag part for 780 - they are both with heat in it. From the Nissan my experience is that the quality is the same whether Safelite glass or original.

Default windsheild

Is the windsheild damaged? If you have glass coverage with your insurance you may be able to get it replaced without any deductable. I am having mine replaced at no charge due to a few rocks that hit it.

Far fewer Jaguar X350s around than Nissan Pathfinders means the production price has to be spread over fewer cars, hence more cost per screen; try getting a quote for a Ferrari, for instance.

We pay zero here in Florida. No insurance deductible on glass in this state.

I haven't looked into it since my windshield is in good shape, but that's less than I expected. My driving habits (tailgating) have improved due to fears over a $1200 bill for rock chips. Its probably a healthy fear to harbor though.

Safelite is the cheapest for the heated windshield - yes it is a low production car and parts are expensive. I dont have glass insurance -never had a cracked windshield but after living in CO for 1.5year I have had 2 so a glass insurance is benificial when living in CO. Apparently CO cannot use NaCl on the roads in the winter since they supply water to multible states, MgCl is only option to smelt ice but this is expensive so gravel is often used to keep down the states expenses. I wonder if it would cost just 200$ more per car per year only to use MgCl and avoid the gravel - It is a retorical question - just like extra tax
Thanks for the reply's!

I had mine replaced a couple years ago. It had the heated front as well.

I am in Florida so I did not pay for it but the glass shop told me that there was only one maker of that windshield with the heat element so it would have the same mfg markings as one from Jag.

I checked it before they installed it and sure enough it was identical. I have a 2005 VDP.

I was quoted $850 installed by a local shop for a Jaguar replacement. I opted to just have the chip repaired. Here in Oregon the are not allowed to use salt on the road so they use little stones... yeah, it sucks. I have been replacing a car windshield about every other year since moving here.

I guess you are saying that our insurance is more expensive because of this.

I was looking at some recent "how much does your insurance cost" threads and I think at $450 per year for full coverage, my insurance is a bargain. I would not want to be in any of the NE states or Kalifornia.

I think higher incidents of fraud and more expensive repair costs in other states make their costs higher.

That's what I'm saying.

Plus why should the state mandate that I purchase windshield insurance if I don't want it.
