Default Cruise control not available

On my 2004 XJR, I have had intermittent issues with ABS warning lights but that is not on right now. I am only getting Cruise control not available after driving a short distance and then it remains on. Any clues?

I would check out your battery. When it starts going south, it causes all sorts of fault messages. I had the dreaded cruise not available about a year ago and replaced my battery. That solved it.

+1 on the battery.
Secondly maybe a ABS Sensor clean. A 5 minute job on each wheel. Unclip the sensor, clean with rag, replace. I had an ABS/DCS/Cruise issue rectified by cleaning the Sensors.

I've had the same problem for the past 2 years. I asked the forum, but all suggestions have not worked. I cleaned and tightened grounds, replaced the brake pedal switch, cleaned wheel sensors, etc. It's funny, but sometimes in very hot weather, the system works! I have not gone to the Jag dealer to have the codes read yet. I am bound and determined to diagnose and fix this myself! Any more helpful input is welcome. Please let me know if and how your resolve your issue. By the way, my battery was brand new when this began 2 years ago.

I had the same problem, cruise not available battery seemed ok so I ruled that out until one afternoon cleaning car with doors open etc. after a few hours not enough battery to start. Went and got a new one and all the cruise problems GONE!!

Yep, same happened to me too. I've never met a car more finicky about a battery than a modern Jaguar. Our S-Type radio wouldn't turn on even though the car started fine when the battery started to wear out.
