Default Instrument Panel Reset while driving p1638 p1699

Well guys it seems to be never ending with this car.
A couple of days ago while driving to work in light rain I noticed the dash reset as if the car had restarted along with a lit CEL. Scanner showed solid code p1638 and pending code p1699.
I thought maybe water got in somewhere. The CEL went away after a couple of drive cycles no issues since. Until I was just driving to lunch and it happened again. Upon research I noticed it had hastened to a few X Type guys. Anybody with an XJ have had this happened? Battery is only 4 months old and still cranking strong.
Thanks in advance.

Well it's doing it more frequent now. Happened last night on the way home from work then again today to and from the gym. Gonna start checking grounds. Pray for me.

Check G26 ground. (under hood, passenger side, fenderwall) These faults are CAN faults.

Just keep in mind, that CAN faults are communication errors between modules. P1638 is a fault of no start due to the PATS circuit, and P1699 is a fault of the CAN bus between the Climate Control Module and the ECM. There was a TSB on CAN bus failures with pins in various connectors. Have you done any work in the instrument cluster or center console area recently?

Please read this TSB carefully and fully before you start any repairs, and your codes are listed here and would be the very first things I would begin with, (even before trying to mess with grounds) including simply disconnecting and reconnecting to reseat the connectors;

Hello everyone, figured I should have updated everyone on this. My apologies for the delay.

The p1638. It would happen to me when we would get lots of rain. Which may be water hitting a harness or just coincedence. But I did find a sure culprit. Under the dash in the vicinity of the OBD port there are 2 or 3 electrical connectors. If I jiggle these they trigger the code and the dash lights up and resets. I just tucked these connectors to the side si they won't swing much when driving off going over bumps.

thanks again for everyone's ideas and contributions.
