Default Cluster replacement possible?

Hi all, I own a 2006 X350 4.2 LWB. Currently I am thinking about shipping it from Hong Kong to UK. The problem is that in order to pass the MOT I will definitely need a cluster with miles on it. The dashboard on the car only have km on it and I wonder if it is possible to get a used cluster and replace the current one in my car. I have SDD and Mongoose cables.

Appreciate if anyone can share the steps and experience on how to program a used cluster to X350s and correct the mileage. Thanks!

I'm not in UK so it's not my problem.
However, I googled "UK MOT km" and there were 48,000 results.
Here's just one

This question does not seem to be specific to Jaguar, though a Jaguar being Exported to it's home lair of UK? Now that's Something!
Cheers (let's know what you find out)

(off the top of my head, I would not contemplate changing the cluster for this reason, it would be a killer from my point of view. Just make sure it's a valid Government reason, for example investigate "classic car" or whatever exemptions might apply.)

Unless you can find one out of a written-off car in the UK, why would you bother? If it was the first car you did it in the back-seat with, I might understand

There is a dealer importing XJs from Japan and converts them to use miles, so one assumes the speedo dial is changed. What this costs I don't know, of course. The displays for kms run is swappable to miles as part of vehicle set-up.

That was my first thought- Isnt there a button on the dash to switch from miles to KM? I cant get to mine right now or i would check on it myself.

yes there is a button for switching between miles and kms, however there is no miles on the speedo and I won't be able to know that exact speed in miles if I drive my car in the UK.

Unless this is a very new law, there is no problem with a KPH speedo in the UK. If in doubt throw a plastic MPH overlay on the dial when doing the MOT.

Canadian spec cars have speedometers marked in kph and mph and odometers can be switched between miles and kilometers.

I know someone with a non-Jag foreign car using km/h and he has has no hassles with MoT. He has a hand-written conversion chart km/h - mph and copes OK.

Wouldn't suit me, but people vary!!

I remember importing my '74 XJ6 in mph but we'd changed to kph.
A corner was just marked 30 (ie kph). So I took it at 30 (mph). It was deliberate. Impressed my brothers no end with my latest XJ at the time.
