Door mirror glass appearance
Hi All,
Strange question but on my 2004 X350 the drivers electrochromatic door mirror glass appears 'bronzed' (the passenger one is not). Both work OK when the light sensor on the interior mirror is covered up (ie - going darker). Does this mean that the 'bronzed' one is on the way out, or is the appearance normal ??? Feedback welcomed

On our old Audi, when the mirror 'film' was going out it appeared like a bad tint job which started to peel in areas. If you have a solid color, then maybe it was replaced at some point which does not match the original. Only time will tell or order another one of ebay.
Thanks Aceler8. I've experienced a failing interior mirror previously but, on that occassion, the appearance was patchy and not over the entire surface. It also stopped going darker (this door mirror does). It is possible that the glass may have been replaced at some stage and, perhaps, later ones are 'bronzed'. I think I'll wait and see what happens - used prices seem extortionate, even on Ebay.
Thanks xalty. However, I'd like to keep the dimming facility so I'll probably wait & see what happens - unless I spot a used auto-dim version at a reasonable price on Ebay.
