Dreaded coolant smell....ugh
I noticed today that I am getting the notorious coolant smell. I did research on here and saw that it can come from a few places. Nipples on tank, seams on tank, coolant lines from tank to engine, t-stat housing and the<cringe>hose behind the block.
I'll check to see if any coolant is leaking from the tank and make my way back. My question is, what is the percentage of the rear coolant lines fail?
Thanks

get yourself a coolant leak tester, it's much easier to find a leak with the engine cold and not running. Many auto parts stores will loan you one or Harbor Freight has one for about $80. All coolant hoses will fail eventually.
Just to be clear Vinny, the,'hose behind the block' is a small hose which leaks into the vee of the engine and the coolant runs to the back of the engine.
My jag is 3.5 l n/a so I can't tell you more detail-members on your side of the pond will know more.

Thanks. I'm hoping it isn't that one. It seems to be coming from the front of the car than the rear. I'll take a closer look this weekend.
