I'm going to go for a driveshaft replacement. I have an extended warranty from a 3rd party when I bought the car and the driveshaft is included with a $100 deductible.

This is the only thing left as I can tell/feel is the driveshaft.

Any updates on this? Wondering if the driveshaft or carrier bearing might be the cause of a similar problem I am having,

Under light-moderate braking, does the vibration/steering wheel shimmy get worse?

If it shimmys the steering wheel...only under braking, that sounds more like a warped brake rotor. The vibration on this thread was not related to the brakes being applied.

A mild vibration is felt through cabin and the steering wheel all the time, most noticeably from 40mph to 70mph,
Under light-to-moderate braking, the vibration in the steering gets significantly worse, if I brake hard-to-very-hard, it actually goes away. I just wanted to ask if anyone here reporting similar issues, has a similar experience to the vibration changing under braking.

I've replaced rotors, pads, and many other items in an attempt to cure this vibration... only thing i really have left to address is steering rack/mounting, and driveshaft/carrier bearing/balance...

I should have my driveshaft replaced within 2 weeks and I'll update. My symptoms are very similar to yours. The worst vibration is about 48-55 under load. I notice if I baby it to speed it isn't as bad. If I am into the throttle pretty hard, the vibrations are more pronounced. So I'm 99% sure it is the driveshaft. The center bearing and/or u-joints are worn.

Anyone reading this besides me? I have the same symptoms, increasing centered vibration at 50 plus and rear shaking and pulsing when I use the hand brake to slow at speed. I thought bearings but shaft or diff. bearing now seem suspect.

I have that same issue with the mild vibration, 48-55 mph. I'm wondering if the couplers may be the culprit. I noticed in another post that they are only good for about 10 years and my car is an '04 with 67k.

Default Piano!

Did you ever fix the vibe in the driveshaft area?
Mine still not fixed.
Thanks.

Take a step back guys - if it's the propshaft (which is unlikely), there will be a mark left by the missing balance weight, and possibly some visible damage or corrosion to show what caused the weight to come off.

It's more likely to be the rear gearbox mount or the centre bearing (if there is one).

I had a subtle vibration on my X300 with 19" rims. I was told by the tyre shop that the tyres were handmade and some vibrate. The tyre shop took one wheel off at a time and fitted the spare. Sure enough it was a single tyre (which went in the boot).

I think I have the same issue. Under light power at 80 kph (50 mph) I get a kind of 'high frequency' vibration throughout the car. It's not a big wobble, more like a buzzing feel.

Could it be the same issue / solution?
