ECU1($FD20) ECU1(FD00) Codes?
Had the MIL come on today but the car was still running normally with no restricted performance. I tried switching everything off and on again but the MIL remained. When I got home I plugged the iCarsoft in and it came up with the 2 codes ECU1($FD20) and ECU1($FD00)
I couldn't find out what the codes mean so I reset the MIL and away it went......for now.
Does anyone have any idea what these codes mean?
Any ideas and advice most welcome.
Thanks
Pete

No idea at all but they're not standard - I reckon it's the tool making a complete mess of reporting whatever it was that it found.
Maybe get a cheap elm327 so if it happens again you can get a second opinion.

Done a bit of research and it seems to be an engine ECM fault. I've only had the car for a couple of months but one of the first things I noticed was blocked drains in the cabin filter housing. The lower part of the filter showed signs of having been soaked in water and I believe the ECU lives underneath it. Next time I get some tinker time to myself I'll clean the contacts up and see if that helps. It seems to be an intermittent fault so might take some tracking down.
Found the source of the MIL.
. Someone had forgotten to reconnect the MAF sensor when they changed the air filter.
The MIL has gone and so far hasn't come back but curiously the iCarsoft comes up with: "Fault in communication with vehicle ECU". Last time I had it to the local garage he said that his equipment wouldn't communicate with it.
Hmm............. at least the MIL has gone............for now

That's strange. Whenever I've unplugged the MAF I get a restricted performance warning straight away. Glad you got to the bottom of the problem though.
I've read some other forums who have experienced the strange fault codes you had and they seemed to mention that the codes are showing like that because the reader cannot understand or display them fully. Strange that the local garage also cannot communicate with the car either.

Touch wood the car is running fine now with no nasty little lights but the code reader still can't read anything from the engine module. It worked fine on my last X350 but not on this one. I'll check to see if it can see the other modules and that might narrow it down a bit. I have a Sealey code reader and when I plugged it in I got a stream of messages saying stuff like "Cruise Not Available and DSC not Available"
.
It might still be worth checking the terminals on the ECM but for the minute I think I'll let sleeping dogs (or cats) lie.

Good plan PDMiller. I haven't drove my car for almost 4 weeks. The car started with a sputter but would not move out of park in the gearbox. The P light was not red and if I pressed the sport mode button nothing would happen. I let the car run for abut 5 minutes and then suddenly the P illuminated red and I could then use the gearbox. I drove it to work without any issue, even stopped for fuel and still no problem. Very strange.
