I should say first tht I am nothing to do with Halfords. I usually go for spec first, then brand, then price.

However, I recently got some Mobil 3000 X1 5w30 at £24 for 5 litres, which I thought a bargain (it is their recommendation for the X350 and meets the Ford spec) as they are having a special offer on Mobil and Own-brand 5-litre bottles.

I heard an ad on the TV yesterday and had another look, as they have reduced all their own-brand 4 litre bottles to £10. This includes the 5W30 part-synth meeting the Ford spec and recommended for the X350 jag (probably others, i don't know). I had a look and it is made for them by Comma (click the link for "Safety Data Sheet"). So if you are not an oil snob, or if you want to put something in to rinse out the engine prior to your next scheduled change, some great deals to be had. I haven't heard any stories in the financial press to explain it. As the £10 offer includes their fuly synth, I imagine it will be selling fast. I believe if you order or reserve online you can get free delivery for a £30 order.
