Default engine oil capacity

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I couldn't find a post. The owners manual shows that oil change capacity for my 2005 VDP 4.2L to be 5 .75 US gts.. with filter. change.. It always takes me almost 7 qts. to fill to the max mark on the dipstick. Anyone??

~7 quarts is accurate. See below:

"The Jaguar 4.2L naturally aspirated (NA) V8 engine typically requires around 6.5 to 7.4 quarts (6.0 to 6.9 liters) of oil with a filter change".
0W-30 is the preferred weight.

The recommended oil is 5W-30 not 0W-30.

Default My bad, folks!

5W-30 IS the recommended oil.

I have had my wife's Jeep Cherokee on my mind the last couple of weeks, yes, and oil cooler problem. Duh.

My owners manual (JJM 18 02 21 701) for 2007 XJ8 says 7.4 quarts, including oil filter. Same for N/A and S/C

SAE viscosity rating
For climates ranging from –30°C (–22°F)
and +50°C (+122°F), the following oil
viscosities may be used:
0W–30
5W–30 (preferred)
0W–40
5W–40

My 2005 Jaguar XJ8L 4.2L V8 engine takes (more or less) 7.5 quarts of 5W-30 engine oil.
