engine oil capacity
I'm sure this question has been asked before but I couldn't find a post. The owners manual shows that oil change capacity for my 2005 VDP 4.2L to be 5 .75 US gts.. with filter. change.. It always takes me almost 7 qts. to fill to the max mark on the dipstick. Anyone??
~7 quarts is accurate. See below:
"The Jaguar 4.2L naturally aspirated (NA) V8 engine typically requires around 6.5 to 7.4 quarts (6.0 to 6.9 liters) of oil with a filter change".
0W-30 is the preferred weight.

My owners manual (JJM 18 02 21 701) for 2007 XJ8 says 7.4 quarts, including oil filter. Same for N/A and S/C
SAE viscosity rating
For climates ranging from –30°C (–22°F)
and +50°C (+122°F), the following oil

0W–30
5W–30 (preferred)
0W–40
