Engine swap

Engine swap
Hi,
I知 new to the forum, so apologies in advance if my post/question doesn稚 follow standard protocol.
im looking for advice on an engine swap. I知 looking to take a 4.0 liter motor from a 2002 Jaguar XJ8 and install it into a 1999 XK8, replacing the original 4.0 liter motor. Would this be a pretty straightforward swap, and is there anything tricky that i would need to anticipate in making this swap? Was wondering if the engine management electronics would also need to be swapped or if the 1999 XK8 electronics would be okay with the 2002 motor from the XJ8. The transmission in the XJ8 would not be used.
Thanks, in advance for any assistance/advice.

Much easier to not separate the engine and tranny and just swing both in
unless they had different trannies for different model years for this car?
when i did my x350 it was very straight forward and that drivetrain came from an s-type
it痴 the same ecu and tcu and the instrument cluster only needs to be changed if you are changing the engine to something different, ie: a 4.0 to a 4.2 or a v6 to a v8 etc
so in short, if all you are doing is changing over the engine to the exact same engine
you won稚 need to change or mess with any of the electronics at all
this is fairly standard across all manufacturers
but, I have only done engine swaps on s types, x types and xj x350
so this model could be different, but its unlikely
