Default extra hole in jack holder - what's it for?

I just got my "new" emergency towing eye from eBay today and put it in the styrofoam jack holder (after I made sure it fit), but I am wondering what that other little depression beside the one where the eye goes is for. Any ideas?

That would make sense. Were locking lug nuts an option? Or standard?

My SV8 did not come to me with them, but than it didn't come with the engine cover, the tow eye, a matching spare, or even a boot floor so one can only guess what it might have had originally.

The cars left the factory without locking lug nuts.

Mine came ('3rd hand', but from a Jag Agent) with locking wheel nuts and the key is in a wee orange day-glo bag marked Jaguar with a pull-string top, and it sits in one of the holes in the top of the styrofoam.
