Default FOB unlocks all doors except Driver. Why?

2000 XJ8 . In order to unlock the driver door I have to insert the key and turn it to the right. FOB won’t unlock it.

I bought the car used and the FOB never unlocked the driver door.

I’ve tried double pressing the unlock door icon on the FOB, reprogramming the FOB etc., but nothing works.

Any clue?

Just an offhand guess but it sounds like a one door only problem and that door card needs to come off for further investigation of the wiring and actuator, but again, just a guess.

I had the same problem with my older 98 x308. Every door except the one behind the drivers door would lock and unlock from the fob. For the older car - I removed the interior door card and found nothing out of the ordinary - so I sprayed garage door lube on the moving parts. It has worked now for well over two years.
I eventually had to do the same thing to the passenger front door.

I have a chevy truck doing the same thing, but I haven't investigated that yet

That sounds like the simplest approach which I always like to pursue First.

The second approach would be to find the SCL module under the battery and see if there’s something going on there.

My first comment, although I have 'been here' a number of years. Canadian eh. Sold my 89 XJS, bought a 2010 XK, and now.....related to this thread, just bought a 2008 XJ Vanden Plas. I had the same issue with my FOB....everything works except the drivers door. Took it apart and discovered that the little 'push button' module for the door is worn out. The other three modules 'click' up and down, but no click from the drivers one. If I was into micro-welding and could actually see anything smaller than an elephant I might try and source a new little button.....but instead it looks like I will have to buy a new FOB
