Front door panel removal to replace speakers
Help, I need to replace the front door speakers in a 2006 XJ8L. I assume that the door panels need to be removed and I would like instructions so to minimize damage.
Thanks,
Roger

It's quite easy, I have both front door cards sat next to me in the dining room . Where the door release lever is you will see a round disc prise this out with a very small flat bladed screwdriver and you will see a torx screw, I think a t27 but I cannot remember now. Now you move down to the door handle you will find 2 big philips style screws you will need to remove and finally you need to get on your hands and knees to look at the bottom of the door car where you will find a scrivet. It's a plastic philips type screw that screws into a rivet just unscrew the screw and then pull it out be careful as the screw chews up really easily and they are about £2 each. Now to the hard bit which is actually pulling the door card off as it will not want to come but once you have a couple of the clips off it does come off easily. I take the door light out and put my finger in the hole to help pull it off just don't be over vigorous as the card could crack, I suspect that is what happened to the one I am replacing.
Here's the Workshop Manual extract:

Thanks to all (including Brewster 441). I had only the rear nearside speaker working and was not looking forward to replacing my system - Now, thanks to these posts, I have an excellent, working Alpine Premier sound system!
