Default Gearbox fault on 09 VDP

It's cold today in Ontario Canada and my cat has been sitting for about 5 days without running. As is usual for a sitting jag the battery needed a boost to start. After getting on the highway I realized it seemed to be stuck in about 3rd gear and there was a "Gearbox Fault" message. I tried stopping, putting gear into park and so forth several times but no change. The battery is a little over a year old so it would not seem to be that. Does anyone know if this is a known issue? It hasn't happened to me before though and so I wonder if the cold has anything to do with it.

Thanks.

Peter

Only a guess at best;
Could the level of trans fluid be low, along with the cold ?

What are your miles? Have you changed the filter, dropped the valve body and replaced the various rubber seals that go bad?

If you have no visible leaks your fluid level should be fine. Check you transmission lines near the radiator as these are a weak point and leak.

If you think checking the level is a PIA, just wait until you have to replace those trans lines.

Read replacing just the rubber portion of the lines, saves time, effort, and money.
The lack of a dipstick is not a good idea.
Changed the filter, & fluid, with no fluid loss afterwards, i don't really miss it.
