gearbox swapping ?
any zf wizards ? after going through sng site found lots of different part number for gearboxes across the fleet, my question is are there any actual differences that would prevent swapping a box from a v8 3.5 or 4.2 to a v6 3.0 if i keep the 3.0 torque convertor and control unit ?
The gearboxes have different housings, thus the different part numbers.
What is wrong with the gearbox currently installed in the vehicle? How many kilometres/miles are displayed on the instrument cluster?

its been offroad for about 6 years, as far as i remember it was slipping 5/6 and going into limp mode. has done about 113k miles recently noticed a leak from box so maybe a service oil, filter and seals on box may solve the problem if it was just low oil. i didnt have time to play around with it at time just went and bought an x type which lasted 5 years before cats went bad.
Wuff?
6 years idled, but on deep standby?
So you just cast aside a Jaguar at first flaw as if it were a shirt, then wear the cleanest dirty one?
I need a bigger garage...

Cats + new O2 sniffers- were FAR cheaper (at least for my X350) than a ZF pan/filter, recommended seals and other bits, and the two passes of fluid, flush, then fill, with costly juice, but ... some folk do the flush pass with cheaper juice and survive OK.
Sounds to me as if you have more of a solution than a problem, what with a surplus of readily repairable Jaguars?
"Free" they were never.
