Default Glue for headliner...does it exist?

There are a couple of small areas on my headliner that are getting loose. It's not bad, but I'm wondering if I can address this without removing the whole thing.
I have read everything on this site and numerous others.
I'm just wondering if there isn't a glue that I could inject with a needle and syringe and gentle roll out under the fabric to restock there spots.
Any ideas?

These can buy you a bit of time:
Amazon.com: Hillman Fastener Corp 122264 Do it Upholstery Twist Pins: Office Products Amazon.com: Hillman Fastener Corp 122264 Do it Upholstery Twist Pins: Office Products
, but the only proper fix is removal and recovering.

I couldn't imagine using the twist pins. Jus thought there had to be some sort of adhesive I could squirt in there...

The backing foam for the fabric deteriorates, so you will not have a smooth gluing surface without cleaning and usually lightly sanding the backing board.

Proper adhesive is an aerosol contact cement on both surfaces. If you use other adhesives, it may make recovering problematic later and cost you more in the long run if the backing board needs to be restored or replaced.

A proper recover is a few hundred dollars at an auto upholstery shop.

Well, it was worth the dream. Now maybe to look into recovering it in the suede-look stuff on the rear shelf...

I've tried this over the years, it never works. The old foam has to be removed for anything to stick. When the old foam has disintigrated and created a lumpy surface, there is no way to make it look smooth anyway.

If you do temporarily use the 'ghetto pins' do not tighten them excessively or they will dimple the backing board and the dents will show through when you recover.

I just hope you have an XJ8L or Vanden Plas since, according to Mitchell online, the rear window has to come out to remove the headliner shell without bending it up on the shorter wheelbase models. I'm going to have to do this job myself in the near future and was looking up the steps involved. Even at that most of the seats have to come out. Maybe some shops can do it in car.
