Group 49 vs 93 auto battery
I'm at my wits end trying to find a battery for my 2006 XJ. I was initially looking for a Group 93 on Google, then some folks said the gr 49 was the same size. My concern is that there are limited choices here in Canada. Oh, and to make matters even more convoluted, some said T8 is also fitting. What say all of you?
Forgot to mention that I have tried the battery test mentioned in this forum quote, "With the ignition in the OFF position after five minutes, there should be a minimum of 12.5 volts across the terminals. If not, you should most likely replace the battery." Well my battery ended up with 12.03 v. Was 11.7v before the test. Since i've had some abs and gearbox faults, i thought a stronger battery was a good diagnostic start before tearing up everything.
Thanks

Definitely get a new battery!
I just did this (12.4 VDC on the old one, and some problems). Size is L5/49/H8. Common size, believe used in BMW's, etc.

My homework (search this forum) says OE Jag battery was lead calcium design. This has higher float voltage than conventional.
Believe Exide Global and Exide Sprinter (in this size) are lead calcium. Home Depot in the US carries Sprinter (~ $120), which is what I used; but not sure in Canada, eh? Maybe slip into Detroit and snag one, eh?
Hope this helps!
