You are right, but below is a pic of the bolts I removed to strip that unit down; plus various ribbon and multiplug connectors!
replaced the whole unit with one that has (at least for the moment) a perfect screen.
I have found (I believe) that they are all interchangeable and that they will adapt to whatever options your car has?

I believe that this is so. I had retrofitted bluetooth to my car, as bluetooth was not available (yet) in 2003, and the screen showed the bluetooth screen without any probloem after the swap of the telephone module.

Thomas, it was you that first informed me of this fact!
Yes, interestingly and as proof of your point, my replacement screen did not come from a car with the rear entertainment console. When I switch on, I initially get a menu that does not include those options, but then a split second later, up they come!
