Afternoon all - hope you are all having a great weekend!

I've started using the XJ8 now (still use the XJ6 as well but the XJ8 is just such a nicer engine to use) and am starting to gain more trust in it. One issue I noticed immediately when I got the car was the radio code is missing. I've tried the supposed trick of holding down different buttons but nothing. Locked.

I could remove the stereo and buy the code on-line (or even try Jaguar to get it free) but I have been moving garages this past 2-3 weeks and uncovered all sorts of things I forgot I even had. First I found another head unit - same as the one I have with the tape deck. Looks identical to mine, I think it came out of a X type that I parted out years ago. Then I found a touch screen head unit that I think I got out of an S-Type 3.0d. Neither have the codes on them but I can get the codes on line. My question is will the X-Type touch screen head just plug in and work? Obviously I want to check before buying a code for it!

I don't believe it will be that easy, if at all, to "plug and play".
Here's a head unit item to check. Though I believe it may be only for NA vehicles?




Here's the head unit layout for an XJ8 with either a Premium or Standard unit. If you can dig up the S-Type layout, you'll have a comparison to work with. I'm in the..."I seriously doubt it will fit" category.
