XJRPro, what year and model is your car? How are you with a multimeter? I can help you diagnose what is going on with your vehicle if you give me a little bit of information. Based on what you are describing, it is sounding like a fuse that is causing a voltage loss, causing your problems. I would say to swap the DIP beam (what us Americans call low beam) fuses and see if the problem moves side to side. If it does, then it confirms the fuse is your problem.

Let me know if you want more assistance. If you are not very familiar with a multimeter, state so and I will give you step by step instructions of what you need to do.

Exclamation

Thanks Thermo, I have a 2006 Jaguar XJR I tried swaping the fuses and checked the fuses there were no burnt spots or gaps and the driver side did not come on. I am good at figuring tools out I can get my hands on a multimeter.

I've moved your post to the XJR section.
Please put your car's details in your signature so experts (like Thermo) can help you better.

Default 2006 XJ8 HID's wont work

The drivers side bulb quit working, so I ordered 2 new Phillips bulbs. I changed both, now I have no low beams. I checked the fuses and the connectors and all are good. I tried to remove the whole light bucket but could not figure it out to check the main connection . If anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Billy

You need to check your ballasts.

The one u said worked until the bulb swap? If you know which bulb that is try it on each side.

Start there and we'll move forwards.

Take care,

George

Default Ballast hunt

Thanks for your response George. I have been too busy to work on the car.I rcleaned the blades on the fuse for the passenger side and got it working. The driver side was still out so I bought a replacement ballast but am unable to find it on the car.
Can anyone tell me where to look and how to get there. Thanks Billy

The ballast is mounted to the underneath of the headlight housing. You have to take the bumper off to remove the whole headlight housing. Also before you do those trying checking your ground wire that is mounted behind the headlight on the frame.
