The cold weather is back so I started using the heated seats again and I noticed that my steering wheel is not heating up when I engage the driver's heated seat button (tried all three settings). Last winter the steering wheel warmed up quickly and was HOT, much more than my seats..
Any ideas on where I should start looking? I enjoyed a warm steering wheel on those freezing days.
It's probably a fault in the clock-spring device in the centre of the steering binnacle that allows connections on the moveing steering wheel to be connected to a fixed wiring loom.
I'll start looking into the clock-spring device. I saw a YouTube video on getting to the unit. They mentioned that the other functions might be affected from a defective clock-spring unit aka Cruise, wiper, etc. I'll also check the alldata for the wiring diagrams.
I would check the fuse first, it does have one just for that. It is in the boot fuse box, but I don't remember which one. I know I pulled mine, as the wheel was hotter than I liked.
Thanks! I'm searching the wiring diagrams now for the fuse. My company has a firewall so I can't download the wiring diagrams till I get home. I hope it's a simple fix like a blown fuse.
Yes the steering wheel does get hot, but I like it on the cold days in the Northeast
Hi
The best source of information on the heated wheel is in a training manual hosted by Jagrepair.com
The URL is JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
The file you need is Advanced Electrical #688
This is the one you need
The part with the steering wheel is from page 9-22 onward.
Thanks so much everyone. I bookmarked the link for future reference and printed out the two pages I needed from the manual. I'll also check out Fuse 54. I think I'm armed to tackle the issue.
I checked Fuse 54 and it is working correctly. I'm thinking that this might be the Heated Steering Wheel Module? I'm going to check if my Autel Maxi has pulled any codes regarding this problem.
The heated steering wheel started working on it's own! Well almost. Just yesterday the steering wheel started heating up (maybe 60% to what it used to be), but that's perfectly fine w/ me. It warms the steering wheel enough on these cold winter days.
