Default Help ID'ing this??

2008 XJ8

Just noticed this thin plastic tube broken off and sitting in engine bay. Appears to be air/vac and goes through shock mount to inside of pass wheel well and maybe continues to under dash

While I look at parts diagrams, does anybody have a quick answer as to what this is?

15 years of hot/cold cycling made it super brittle I am sure!

Thanks - Randy

Believe it connects to your vacuum tank

... which I believe is in the trunk. Any idea where the other end of it connects under the hood?

Appreciate the help - Randy

The vacuum tank might be located under the plastic.
Where your hand is, in the photo
The air tank is in the trunk..

Yes, part of the vacuum control system for the secondary air injection. Very brittle tubing with age. The vacuum source is a coupler at the back of the throttle body, with a tube leading through a check valve to a tee. From the tee there's a tube going rearward to the location in your picture and one going forward to a valve on the front of the engine. Under that termination in your picture is a vacuum tank, with vacuum maintained by the check valve at that tee. You'll have to lift the plastic cover from the engine to find all of that.

The part number for replacement is C2C2716. I've only found it on eBay, but what I found was correct.

Secondary air vacuum line. I just traced all of mine and replaced them with newer, more pliant and not brittle lines a few months ago.
